Best friends June, Kiki, and Peggy graduated from Dallas's Rayburn High School - all of them still virgins. After all, they were good girls. Years later, when the three women gather and read June's high school diary, they joke about the sexual frustration they caused their steady boyfriends back then. That's when Kiki makes a startling statement.

"When you think about it, and I'm only trying to be fair, we owe those guys sex."

With bawdy jabs and tipsy laughter, they vow to track down their old boyfriends and just DO IT, which is something they definitely did NOT do back in high school. Lives intertwined, the three friends share their quest with sexy, poignant, and sometimes hilarious results.

Is each woman's sexual I.O.U. paid in full? Will everyone get what he or she deserves? Or is this just another one of Kiki's crazy ideas?

My Synopsis:
June Landry, Kiki Phillips and Peggy Kelly have been life long friends.  They are having a girls night out drinking, gabbing and reminiscing about their Senior year of high school.  June is reading from her diary that she found about their adventures the year of 1965 with their boyfriends at the time.  June was going steady with Denny Reid, Kiki was seeing Gregory Houston and Peggy was going steady with Mark Smith.  All the ladies are commiserating about how they held out on their boyfriends at the time because they all wanted to be good girls and not go all the way with their boyfriends.  Kiki the wild friend out of the group comes up with the idea that they each find their high school boyfriends and give them the sex they should have gotten back then.  Each ladies have all gone through their own trials and heartache.

June has never forgotten the love of her life Denny.  With one bad marriage under her belt and a grown son who is living far away June decides to look up Denny.  Will these two get a second chance at love or will a long held secret from June’s past tear them apart?

Kiki has always wondered what happened to Greg. Kiki has had two marriages. One husband died during war and another was a constant cheater.  She has no illusions about love and enjoys being single and mingling. She does decide to look for Greg and is surprised at where he’s ended up in life. Kiki’s adventure will lead her to find love from an unlikely man and drags her into mystery and intrigue.

Peggy is in an unhappy marriage. Her husband constantly nags and verbally abuses her.  She is battling weight and health issues and can’t ever see herself looking for Mark.  Besides she is a married woman.  A sudden lost will cause Peggy to reexamine her life.  She will make changes that could lead her to an unexpected happiness with a man she never stopped loving.  Will she take that chance or will her old fears hold her back.

My Review:
I saw this book on the book blog community that I’m a part of.  The authors were pimping this book on the site and after reading that synopsis they posted I knew I had to check it out.  Friends who decide to go find their old boyfriends and give them the sex they held out on…sounds fun to me! I am very happy I bought and gave this book a try.

This book gave me hours of laughter, romance, and friendship. The heroines are older (baby boomers) but with the writing and how much fun these ladies are you would think they were still in their 20’s.  You’ll find “your” story of yourself in one of the three story lines told in this book.  The authors did a great job keeping me interested in each ladies lives through stories from the past and to the present.  It was organized and I kept up with each story well.

You’ll root them on and you’ll find yourself reminiscing about your past too and remembering that old high school boyfriend.  The romance in each story line was sweet and made me smile throughout the book.  Each ladies rediscovering that giddy feeling and the slow process of falling in love again with someone that you remembered back when to how they are now.  I found myself smiling throughout the book and feeling the emotions again of sweet love.

The trouble Kiki the wild one gets into and her bawdy comments kept me laughing. I loved how the strong friendship between the three ladies was presented throughout the book during the many trials that happened and how they got together for drinks and would share the latest on their lives.  It was real and it reminded me of my many times with my girlfriends.  There were some parts in the book that dragged a bit and kinda went on too long. Overall though this was a very enjoyable read for me.  It would be a book I’d re-read again.  It had all the elements that kept me reading through the night.  Friendship, sex, laughter, heartbreak, romance, death and sexy older men!  I think everyone would enjoy this book.

  1. I admire your courage Ing. Maybe for you it’s not courage but from where I’m sitting, it is. I’m not one to break out of my element. I like my paranormal and historical romances and the tried and true contemp authors I occationally read. This read, while it totally seems enjoyable, just isn’t somthing I’d ever pick up but I’m glad to have learned about it through your experience. Thanks for that and great review!
