The Viper by Monica McCarty
Book 4 in the Highland Guard Series
Hero: Lachlan MacRuairi
Heroine: Bella MacDuff
Blurb:

The war for Scotland’s sovereignty rages on—as Robert the Bruce
is crowned king and the Highland Guard, his elite fighting force of
legendary warriors, battle for land… and love.

Prized for his snake-like stealth and deadly strikes,
Lachlan “Viper” MacRuairi
is a warrior to enlist but not to trust. His only loyalty is to his
purse, his indifference sealed by bitter betrayal. All that changes when
Lachlan is tasked to protect and deliver
Bella MacDuff
to the king’s coronation—and the proud, lushly sensual countess
unwittingly challenges him to his greatest battle yet: to love again.

Passionate and devoted, Bella has defied Britain’s king and her own
husband to place the crown on Bruce’s head—and pays a terrible price.
She loses her daughter and her freedom to her husband’s vengeance.
Imprisoned with barbaric cruelty, she vows to reclaim her child, even if
it means selling her soul—and her body—to a dark, lethal warrior whose
eyes glint like steel, but who makes her skin tingle and her breath
race. Together they embark on a rogue mission with sinister twists and
turns that threatens not only Bella’s gamble to save her daughter—but
also her heart.

*****************************
Good morning folks. Well today is the kickoff of the 3 day Highland Guard Event. Today is the release of the 4th book in Monica McCarty’s Highland Guard series. Monica’s highlander stories are my drug of choice when I feel the need to read about those hot blooded and virile men of Scotland. She effortlessly blends historical figures into a romantic fictional storyline.  Her books each and everyone of them has a place on my keeper shell.
The Viper is the fourth book in her exciting Highland Guard series.  The hero is one of the highly trained secret soldiers of Bruce in his bid to be King of Scotland during the 1300’s. Many fans of this series has been waiting (seriously Monica write faster:)) forever for this highlander hottie’s story.  Lachlan MacRuairi is as cold hearted and bad as they come.  He’s been through some things that have definitely made him what he is today.  He’ll need a strong heroine and he’ll get that in Bella MacDuff.  She defied the King of England and husband to help Bruce’s bid for the throne to Scotland.
Anyway this book was fantastic and this series is kickass. I’ll have more stuff up later today so be sure to check back.  Tomorrow I’ll highlight the rest of the honorable and sexy men that fight for Bruce.  For now lets get on with the giveaway. 11. Hi Ing!

What’s not to love about a Highlander?!
They’re sexy-muscled-kilt-wearing- men! Plus they have that wonderful Scottish accent!

I first started reading Monica’s books with her release of HIGHLANDER UNTAMED, I’ve been hooked since.

I can’t wait to get my hands on VIPER and then SAINT! WooHoo for Monica!

I have always enjoyed reading about highlanders, to pick just one is impossible for me.

  13. Linda Scarchuk

I have finished the first 2 Maya Banks Highland books, the Macabes are something else. Wouldn’t we all like to go back in time to be in the fantasy. Not to be treated like most women of the time but the Macabe men seemed to know how to treat their women. Fun to learn about other series to get into, thanks.

  14. Di

forgot to say that I very much enjoyed Karen Ranney’s ‘The Highland Lords’ series and Sue-Ellen Welfonders wonderful books about Highlanders.

  17. I love Paula Quinn’s Laird of the Mist. I have only started reading Highlander books, so I don’t have much reference. I just picked up one of Maya Banks’ Highlander series and I can’t wait to jump into that. There is something about the rugged take-charge personality of most highlanders that is so appealing! Not to mention the hot bodies and imagining that great accent. Yum…

    Thanks for a great giveaway!

  18. I have not read any of Monica’s books yet. I have Cheif in my TBR pile, but have not had a chance to check it out yet.
I love Paula Quinns Highlander series. I like Callum and Graham. I like Callum because he is the first one you meet in the series, but I think Graham is my absolute favorite. I like the alpha males, protective, sexy, and very rugged. I also love the way they speak. Sometimes things they say I don’t understand and will have to re-read the line, but still love it.
Thanks for the giveaway and the chance to win.

I just read the Cross Stitch/Outlander by Diana Gabaldon and I really loved Jamie Fraser, and any of the ones by Karen Marie Moning have awesome heroes (though I did read the Fever series first so have a bit of partiality towards Barrons). 28. How can I pick a favorite Monica McCarty hero? She has been my favorite author since her very first book came out. I am so excited to read the Viper, as I can’t wait to hear MacRuari’s tale and learn why he is the darkest member of the Highland Guard. In the previous Highland Guard novels, I loved reading his story lines, so I will say that Lachlan MacRuari is my favorite hero.
    saltydog785@yahoo.com

  29. I’ve probably read a few of Monica’s books but as I’ve said many times before, I read so many book by so many authors that I honestly can’t remember what I’ve read and what I haven’t LOL! I am a HUGE, HUGE fan of Scottish Historicals (My father was a scotsman) and I pretty much devour any book that has even a slight reference to Scotland! I would have to say that one of my favorite highland stories is Highland Barbarian by Hannah Howell and Artan Murray is very much the stubborn, headstrong, virile Highlander persuaded to marry an English lass.

  30. I have been waiting for this 4th book to come and and knowing there are two more books coming our way, just make me swoon.. Love these Hunky Higland Guard warriors…
