Good morning and welcome to Day 2 of the Rough Rider Series Event!  First off HAPPY RELEASE DAY to Lorelei James.  Cowboy Casanova book #12 of the Rough Rider series officially releases today as an ebook from Samhain Publishing!  Can I just say how freaking much I love this new addition to this series.  Stayed up late to read it at midnight last night!  Mmmmmm..yummy Ben!  Sigh.
Anywhoo—Continuing with the lovefest for this series today and offering more giveaways!  Today I have fellow Rough Rider fan Leagh from Romance Book Craze sharing her reasons why she loves this series and thinks YOU should check it out. Reading Leagh’s post was great.  I loved all the examples she gave it made me go back to some of the books and re-read those memorable moments!  So sit back and enjoy the post!  Take it away…Leagh!
Why I love the Rough Rider series by Leagh

Hello, and thank you for having me here today to tell you why I love the Rough Riders Series. First let me give you a bit of background. About 2 yrs ago my sister-in-law came to me and said “My all time favorite book is LONG HARD RIDE by Lorelei James. It is a cowboy ménage and extremely good” Well, of course, my curiosity got the best of me and I told her to bring it over. This having been the third romance I have ever read in my life, I was a little worried but very excited.

Oh and I am extremely glad she let me borrow it. I read it in one day and absolutely fell in love. Colby and Channing grabbed me from the very beginning. It wasn’t only them two though; it was the entire family and world that I fell in love with. I have got to say that I think I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Colby and Channing because they started the series but when I think about the series as a whole, I really do just like them all. The setting that Lorelei sets her stories in is so real that it makes me feel like I could hop on a plane and visit the McKays. The family dynamics are real, the problems are real, and the emotion is so intense that you can’t help but feel it yourself.  Plus did I mention that they are HOT, HOT, HOT.

SHOULDA BEEN A COWBOY has always stuck out for me because I am a sucker for a tortured hero and Cam was definitely tortured. I love how Domini was so incredibly shy but yet was able to see Cam for what he was and give him exactly what he needed. The way that they came together to fight their demons together, struck me as something extremely special.  I love the scene where Cam does the three legged race with Ky so he won’t be without a partner. It is so sweet that even though he struggled his pride allowed him to help Ky out.

And then there is BRANDED AS TROUBLE and Colt. He was also tortured but in a different way. We watched his downfall and then got to see him pick himself up again. I commend India for helping him through his time of trouble and I think she is one kick ass chick. I love how they work together to fight the addiction and the support that they show each other is amazing.

I also love COWGIRL UP AND RIDE mainly because AJ not only saved herself for Cord but accepted him as a package deal.

Favorite passages/scene:
This is the conversation between Colt and India in Branded as Trouble
“ I wish you were wearin’ a dress”
“ I wish you were wearing a condom.”
“ Holly Hell, India Blue Ellison, are you an ornery woman.”
“ A horny women”

One more thing that stands out is when India shot Colt in the ass with a nail gun, LMAO, I don’t think I will ever forget that

Another favorite is between Kane and Ginger is Raising Kane

They are both raring to go but have to wait for Hayden and Dash to leave the house…

“Ginger, you okay?”
She whirled on him and growled, “No. Don’t touch me. Don’t talk to me. Don’t even look at me.”
Shit. Had she changed her mind? “Why not?”
“Because if you do, I will jump you and ride you like a pony, right fucking here, right fucking now, on my dirty kitchen linoleum.”
Whoa. Guess she hadn’t changed her mind.

There are so many good scenes in these books that I could write a book of my own just quoting all the hot, quirky, sexy, sweet things these cowboys say and let’s not forget the women that bring them to their knees.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to participate in the event. I am eagerly waiting the next installment in the Rough Riders series.
Sincerely,

Leagh ~ who wishes she was a cowgirl living on a ranch with her very own McKay cowboy

  6. Besides those incredible covers… the “Favorite passages/scene” was especially my favorite part of the post. Really gives me some insight into what I’ve been missing by not having read this incredible series yet. Lorelei James is one of those authors I hear about all the time, but have yet to try… hopefully that will soon change:) Thanks for the great post, Leagh!

    Thanks for the awesome giveaway!!!

  8. Leagh was too late to influence me! I’ve read them all and love them all! Colby is my fav because he was first. Then Cord, Colt, and Cam. Kade, Kane, Carter, Chase, awe hell, I love them all. Even the wild West boys. 🙂

  9. Hand’s down, this quote got me hooked,

“Because if you do, I will jump you and ride you like a pony, right fucking here, right fucking now, on my dirty kitchen linoleum.”

  10. Cowgirl Up and Ride was the first and always a favorite. Many of my books were damaged when my son dropped my laptop so I haven’t had a chance to see if any of these made it through the laptop surgery.
You are right hLorelei’s characters do feel real.

  15. Actually Leagh had me at ‘hello’! 😀
I’ve read Long Hard Ride & loved it. Read it pretty much straight through in one sitting. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to get & read the rest of the stories & I dying to do so! I’ve also read Saddled & Spurred – which was equally terrific.
What can I say – love me them hot, sexy cowboys!

  16. When Leagh talks about reading her first Lorelei James book, Long Hard Ride, about Colby and Channing. She said she read it all in one day. She couldn’t put it down. I love books like that, that have you so drawn in that you have to finish it in one sitting. I can’t wait to read this series. I haven’t read any of them yet.

  17. I loved Colby and Channing! They were a great start to the series. I think sometimes their story is forgotten because they were the first – but they were wonderful. Kade & Ginger were pretty funny…but gotta agree, the scene where India shoots with the nail gun is hilarious! 🙂

I’m loving this week! I haven’t had a chance to read the new title, but the rest of the series is amazing and I’ve read ’em all 🙂
