Ing: Hey Cleo!  Morning and welcome to ATPT! Can you tell the readers a little bit about Miss Taken?  What can they expect plot, pace, sex, etc from this book?

Cleo: Hi Ing, thanks for having me.  Miss Taken is a adult romance and its my first novel. Its actually book one in the Miss Taken series. I am currently working on Identity book two. Miss Taken is about Rain Medici, a women in her mid thirties that through her young adulthood she was confined by her overprotective parents to keep her safe because they themselves were frighten by her blood disorder.  Dominick is a powerful attorney with a vendetta and a screw loose. He kidnaps Raven Medici but its actually Rain. Rain’s dad and

Dominick’s father were business partners. Dominick was not with his dad much as his parents were separated.  He wants his father’s share of the business and he feels kidnapping Mr.Medici’s daughter will get him everything. He just didn’t expect that everything meant Rain’s heart.  There are twists, turns, and yes (sorry guys) a cliffhanger but I feel the pace of the book is good. I have gotten a lot of the same type of reviews and feed back. Readers and reviewers all love/hate Dominick and like the fact that Rain is first and holds her own. The book does have adult sexual situations and adult language. It’s not for anyone under 18.

Ing: Can you tell us a about the hero, Dominick Kane? What about Dominick, do you think will capture the readers heart and make them love him?

Cleo: I think readers will dislike him and then like him all at the same time. He is a true alpha male. Hot, powerful, controlling and slightly crazy. He needs to be fix, though he doesn’t thinks so.

Ing: Now tell us a bit about the heroine, Rain Medici? What about Rain, do you think will draw the readers in and make them love her?  I think Rain is stronger than she knows. She’s but I don’t think she realizes how tough she is.  She gives back what ever Dominick throw at her.

Cleo: I think Rain is stronger than she knows. She’s strong but I don’t think she realizes how tough she is.  She gives back what ever Dominick throws at her. She’s insecure, but she tough.

Ing: Why are Dominick & Rain perfect for each other? What about them individually makes them so drawn to each other? Why do you think the readers will fall in love with these two?

Cleo: I think the thing that draws them together is that they both were confined. She was physically but loved and he was mentally and was not accepted so I think the common thread is the control but the opposites attract factor is also at play. She’s feisty and vulnerable at the same time. He’s powerful but needs love and she shows him something he has rarely felt before. Love and compassion but she doesn’t take his shit.

Ing: What was a scene that stood out or was memorable for you when writing Miss Taken? Why did this scene stand out for you?

Cleo: There were several but I think the one where Dominick finds out she’s Rain and not Raven. The plan he had created is falling apart and now the story between Dominick and Rain can actually begin.  Before she was his hostage, his means to an end. During which he struggled with her emotionally, no he really has to deal with his feelings.

Ing: I like hearing the back story about how a book or series came about. Can you tell me where the idea for Miss Taken came from? Is this book going to be part of a series or is it strictly a stand alone?

Cleo: Yes, Its a series. It was originally not going to be a series but there was too much info on the character’s lives that needed to come together.  Miss Taken comes from places I love to be and dream to visit. I love LBI NJ, I go “down the shore” as most people from Jersey say when they are going to the Jersey Shore, most weekends. I even met my husband there, I love it there. My dream is to someday go to the Amalfi Coast of Italy as well. The culture, the coast, the food, the people, the tradition, I’m obsessed with it. I was writing another story, which will be a standalone novel (also at the Jersey Shore) in the future, when the hurricane happened. I was writing the story more for myself. I have several outlines for future novels but back then I didn’t feel I had enough courage to do this.  I spoke with a friend of mine, Joseph Grant, also an author and he told me, you need to do this, he always says to me write just write the stories will come. I then spoke to my mom, who is the strongest person I know. She looked at me with her famous arched brow expression and smirked, “Cleo you have been writing for years, you’re just like your dad. You can do this. Then she said and “if you don’t, you will only have yourself to blame.” So I started to write. I am so glad I did.

Ing: Can you tell us what else we can look forward to from you? Could you give us the 411 on these upcoming projects?

Cleo: Besides Identity (book two), I am playing around with possible a book three called Sibling Rivalry. Then I would like to write a story that’s slightly more erotic. That will be a standalone and I would like to finish the novel I started when Miss Taken came to mind and I put that on the back burner.  It will be an adult romance also.

Ing: Now on to questions about you.  We want to know more about Cleo.   Who are some auto buy authors that you read now?

Cleo: I love Sylvia Day, Madeline Sheehan, LB Simmons,Debbie Macomber, Sylvain Reynard,Kristen Ashley, CJ Roberts, Pepper Winters I just discovered her and loved Tears of Tess, there are so many more. What started by reading as a kid was Charlotte’s Web but then as I grew up of course I loved VC Andrews and one of my favorite stories is Night Gardening from EL Swann, I have the hard cover. It may be out of print, I’m not sure.

Ing: If you could be a heroine of any book for one day who would you be and why?

Cleo: Eva Fox from Undeniable. She is strong, sexy and doesn’t take any shit. She’s a mom and wife and is loyal to her club. She’s tough as nails, but is also soft as silk. Who doesn’t love Deuce and a Harley.

Ing: If you could hang out for a day with one author who would it be and why?

Cleo: Hemingway.  How amazing would it be to learn from him. To hear his struggles and what he went through in his life. What caused him to end it himself. Such great talent gone in an instant.

Ing: Cleo, thanks so much for stopping by today! I really appreciate you answering all these questions. Do you have any last words or questions you would like to pose to the readers of this blog?

Cleo: I loved coming by to do this. Thank you so much for having me. If any of the readers read Miss Taken already, what did you love or not love about it. Also I know the cliffhanger, is a dirty word sometimes, so do you prefer a series or do guys like stand-a-lones? Thanks again this was great xoxo!

Love……………………The Ultimate Loss of Control

Rain and Raven Medici are identical twins. Although they come from a loving close-knit family their childhoods couldn’t have been more different. Raven went to school and was exposed freely to the outside world. Rain on the other hand was born with a blood disorder and denied many normal childhood experiences.

Once grown, Raven becomes a lawyer at their dad’s firm Kane & Medici in NYC. Rain along with her only childhood friend Tommy Conte, builds a very successful business as professional photographers. Traveling between Europe and Manhattan, and enjoying a world that was kept from her, Rain vows never to be controlled again.

Dominick Kane is a product of his upbringing. He’s powerful, self-assured and knows he can achieve anything he desires. Nothing gets in his way. There is only one thing he has ever failed at. A relationship with his father Vincent Kane. Upon his father’s death, Dominick vows revenge. The events he sets in motion put him on a collision course he himself will be unable to control.

In a bizarre twist of fate, Dominick kidnaps Raven as part of his plan for revenge. Only to discover afterward, he has taken Rain by mistake. Rain knows she can never survive being confined again. So she strikes a bargain with the devil and agrees to help Dominick get back what he feels rightly belongs to him. His father’s share of Kane & Medici.

Dominick decides to use the strong attraction growing between Rain and himself to control her in every way imaginable. Too bad no one ever taught Dominick you can’t control the heart. Nothing could have prepared him for the effect Rain would have on his.

Will this plan of revenge turn into unconditional love? Or will Dominick and Rain’s need for control ultimately destroy them and any possibly chance for a real future together…….

*EXCERPT*

It was just then that I heard footsteps outside the room. The door opened and someone else entered. There’s a new voice that is definitely not the driver or his assistant.

“How did it go? Any problems that you would like to relay to me about the girl?” His voice is firm and very dark. It sent a cold chill through my veins. I recognized the driver’s voice.

“No sir, but you should know that…”

“Go on Gerard, what should I know about her?”

“She is one wild chick.”

“How so?” The new guy seems curious.

“She’s been cursing worse than a truck driver. She was kicking and screaming. She isn’t at all like the way you described sir. Miss Medici is far from refined.”

“Refined? Refined! I was taken from my home against my will, you asshole, and you want me you be refined? What should I do say please and fucking thank you?”

The new guy chuckled.

“Well, Gerard, it seems you’re right. Even though Miss Medici may not have been what you expected, she is correct in saying that being kidnapped can show a different side to a person’s usual personality.” The mystery man seemed quite amused.

“I guess so, sir. Oh, this is hers. The lens cracked when we were bringing her in the building. She won’t be taking pictures any time soon.

“My camera didn’t just break, asshole! You ripped the film out, then smashed my camera on purpose!” I yelled indignantly.

My evil host sounded like he was examining the camera Gerardhanded to him.

“Hmmm, the lady has very good taste. Gerard put this with all of Miss Medici’s belongings. We’ll discuss the circumstances on how it broke later. I’m intrigued though why a lawyer would need such a beautiful vintage camera.”

Holy shit, he thinks I’m Raven…

*ABOUT CLEO*

As far back as I can remember, I have loved books. I love reading them and I have finally admitted to myself that I love to write them. Miss Taken is my debut novel as an Indie Writer of Adult Romance. It’s the first book in the series.

My career before writing started in apothecary pharmacy. Working alongside the pharmacist, I enjoyed being around the customers and assisted in making compounded skincare products. Once the pharmacy was sadly sold, I worked as a make-up artist for brands such as Princess Marcella Borghese, Bobbi Brown and MAC Cosmetics. Being around different people and the work I did was never boring, yet something was always missing. Although I am still working, I decided it was time to make writing more than just a dream but a reality.

Then finally one day after Hurricane Sandy hit the shores of NJ, I read an interview about longtime friend and fellow author Joseph Grant. It really hit home for me. So after talking with Joe and my mom, I jumped into the world of writing and recently self-published Miss Taken, so my works would be more than for “my eyes only.”

Since the day I started to write Rain and Dominick’s story, I have never looked back, nor have I regretted one single moment of it.

When I write, much of the time the story plays in my head as a movie and sometimes even includes background music, we can all use a little background music.

I try to add elements of things I love and share them with the readers. I will continue to create characters and stories that you can laugh, cry, love, hate and even become slightly crazy about. Let’s face it, we can all use some crazy to escape real life.

Miss Taken was released September 30th 2013. Currently I’m working on Identity, Book Two in the series. When I’m not writing I am spending time with friends, family, my Dobie, Blue; and of course, hanging down the Jersey shore.

Thanks for entering. I like both series and standalones but it’s the wait time on the series that kills me. I do understand that in many cases its not up to the authors but the publishers and for self publishing,I know in my case that I was very lucky. You have to work with cover artists, editors and formatters and they have other authors, but I was extremely lucky it all fell into place.

I really wanted Miss Taken to be a standalone, but unfortunately it would have be too long and I am not sure if you would get to know the characters as well without a book two. Thanks for commenting. Enjoy the giveaway. I hope you get to read it. Thanks again for participating. xo

Thanks Ladies, about you like Miss Taken. I like series if it’s related to the book. I do read standalones but most of my last reads have been series. Tears of Tess, Undeniable Series, Crossfire, Gabriel, Dark Duet etc. I do the darker series but one of my favorite authors is Debbie Macomber and her knitting series: The Blossom Street Novels. They are very soft romance but they feature very unique and strong women.

  5. I have not read this book yet, but I am really excited to read it. It sounds really goooood!! I like series but I am getting to the point of not liking cliffhangers. I don’t mind if they are related to each other though. I am preferring standalones. Thanks for the giveaway.
